Johnny Marsh Calls
Johnny Marsh making calls
in his home workshop.
A 1940 hunting discussion between famous Reelfoot guide Bill Nation and duck call maker Johnny Marsh spurred the birth of the first Johnny Marsh duck call. Mr. Johnny continued making calls until the 1960's when he ceased production. In 1979 he began making calls again with Larry as his helper and eager student. This continued until Mr. Johnny's illness and death in 1983. Since that time Larry has continued making the Johnny Marsh call and has passed on the lessons he learned from Johnny to his son-in-law Don "Johnsy" Johns and grandson Devin Johns.
